Gianni Benvenuti (1926-2005) was an Italian-born illustrator of children’s book.

Born in Tuscany, Italy, in 1926, Gianni Benvenuti studied at the Lieco Scientifico Vittorio Veneto and the Facolta di Architecturra of the University of Milan. He began his artistic career as a painter and designer, but turned to sculpture in the 1960s. Since the 1970s, his sculptures have been exhibited frequently in major galleries and shows in Italy, France and the United States.

In 1975, Benvenuti, with other artists in Pietrasanta, organized a major exhibition, and the show was so successful that it became an eagerly awaited annual event. He moved to the United States in the 1980s where he continued creating sculptures, as well as numerous paintings and design projects.
